Sculpture Center Reaction

Last Monday, we went to Sculpture center, which a very unique place. It is totally different than all the museums that we have visited. This time we were told by our professor to focus on two things the "Installation" which the way that an artwork is presented within the space, and the "Site-specific" which refers to an artwork that has been made to be shown in a particular space. I didn't know that the space within the artwork is presented plays an important role in the way that the artwork can be interpreted.
The first thing that grabbed my attention when we got there are how the artwork is displayed especially the "Rope Piece". It is really a very unique piece. If it were not hanged on space, it wouldn't be a good work of art because the way that is presented looks to me like two triangles. In fact, the wall interacts with it. By this i mean, the color of the wall, which is white. I think if the wall were black, it wouldn't look like the way it is now.
There was also another artwork that I liked. It was located in an isolated white room. The artwork is really affected by its space because it was painted was black and the room was white. In fact, it looked like the floor was dirty. However, it was just the black paint. If this artwork were placed somewhere else, it would look different. For example, If the floor were black, you wouldn't notice the color of the paint. There were also some artwork that interact with the black paint.
The last that i really liked was the Wheelbarrows. Although, I didn't understand this artwork, the way it was installed is perfect. it was in front of the driveway. I think the reason it was installed that way to is compare its size with the huge size of the driveway or to make easy access to it for real life. for this artwork, I think if you move it somewhere else, it may look different since the color of the water inside the wheelbarrows is the same as the color of the driveway.
In conclusion, I extremely enjoyed the field trip. As a matter of fact, I have learned the importance of the Installation in the interpretation of the artwork. I hope the next field trip will be more interested and we will keep up the good work.
